Centos 6 Error while installation
When i try to install centos 6 on my machine Lenovo G510, while installation it gives error that there is no harddisk partition availale for installation.
help me out with solutions thank you |
Where you able to create partitions for you CentOS installation?
If Windows 8 is the other os on your Lenovo and you want to be in a dual boot you will have to partition (shrink Win's 8) accordingly. When I installed Centos I created a partition (/EXT 4) for the filesystem and I created a linux-swap partition. Than the instaler (Anaconda) installed CentOS to my hard disk. Is this your machine? http://www.pcworld.com/product/14258...-notebook.html |
ya it is my machine.
the problem is , when I try for basic partition it throws an error saying there is no media hard disk available |

Code:
"there is no media hard disk" Is Windows 8 taking up the whole 500 GB hard drive? If so run this command as 'root' using the CentOS CD/DVD in the terminal and post the output. Code:
fdisk -l (small letter L) |
CentOS and "notebooks" do not mix well
The redhat Enterprise Linux 6.5 code base that CentOS 6.5 uses ( or the CURRENT RHEL 7.0 and CentOS 7.0 ) was never intended for use on a "notebook" it is primarily server operating system Now while i use a variant of it everyday ScientificLinux 6.5 I DO NOT USE IT AS MY EVERYDAY OPERATING SYSTEM !!! it is a very poor choice for that for everyday home use i use OpenSUSE a operating system primarily FOR THE DESKTOP and one servers |
Here are some links to other distributions that you could try;swapnil5752-
http://www.opensuse.org/en/ I recently installed Linux Mint 17 Qiana for everyday use. You might like it. http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php Debian is also a good distro and reliable in the department of stability. https://www.debian.org/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZhcMBJDNZc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA6dR_feBws https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v7fnMfFdrI Hope that helps:-;) |
