[SOLVED] Is possible to install CLD on multiboot UEFI environment?
 

CLD simply, is stunning (KDE flavor, for me). I never seen a distro performing in so charming way even on live session.
I have been installing it some years ago (CLD 14) and got only two issues: sound always 100%, not keeping the personal settings. Solved changing phonon backend. After that, no drivers for my printer (Canon MG 3540).
I have 17.12.2 KDE now but am unable to install it on multiboot UEFI environment (HP desktop machine with Windows 10 on /sda and Linux-Mint on /sdb2 + swap on /sdb1 + /sdb3 and /sdb4 free and not formatted).
Please, I have been trying many times but installer does'nt allow me to choose the partition (it showing only /sdb1=swap and /sdb2=Linux-Mint; /sdb3 and /sdb4 is like are not there, as virgin as formatted ext4. I wish to install only "/" on /sdb3 or with separate /home on /sdb4. The EFI partition with Windows bootloader is on /sda2 and Grub is Linux-Mint native on /sdb), is me the wrong one or is impossible to install CLD on UEFI multiboot environment? After that, I gone online the first time with the live session and never again, I don't know why.

Did you check to see if CLD will see them if you format them as ext4 from Linux-mint before running CLD

Thank you for your kind concern, yes please, I have been trying with /sdb3 formatted as ext4 as I wrote:
That is with the gui-installer, can't try the cli-installer because the live dvd does'nt connect to internet after the first time I have been using it, I don't know why.
When was looking around the first time I have been using the live-dvd it was connected and clicking on the cli-link it was working, I did'nt start the installation process that time.

I don't go to Gentoo straight because I don't like to keep the computer not available for the long time needing to complete the installation process, is not possible to do that working from Linux-Mint because at present time can install Gentoo on UEFI environment only from the live dvd.
After that, I want say that I like CLD very much, Gentoo needs more work to bring it to the same level as for appearance as for software content.

Meanwhile, waiting for help about CLD, I discovered and installed a new distro introducing itself as 99% Gentoo, going to 100% just editing a file, am talking of Clover OS

It is astounding about installation, it is very fast, am still working on it because comes out almost "naked" and being my first time with Gentoo, is not easy to set up it properly.
Anyway, I am still working on it, not erased yet :)

Maybe the CLD installer only looks for freespace on the harddrive. Have you tried deleting the partitions and create them during the installation?

create partitions and format before installing
at the "installation type" select use current partition
clear out items under "click to select partitions created" by clicking on it
next
at "layout" click on + (add a row), a mount point window should pop up that will let you select the partition you want to use for /

at "start installing" click on view options to make everything is correct before installing the installation should automatically pick up the esp partition

I have been trying again also deleting the empty partition leaving it as space not allocated, got nothing.

I found out why was not going online during the live session, it goes now but can't get nothing from the cli-installer link.
At the same time, clicking on Ctrl+F1 (or Alt+F1, I don't remember) I get cli but I don't know which commands to write there for installation.
That is the point I have been trying to explain since beginning: gui-installer simply refuses allowing me to do that.
I took screenshots for you so you can see the images of what I am saying, three images:
1 = fsdisk -l # I have been working on /sdb3 and today only on /sdb4 as empty space to format during installation process
(days ago tried with virgin and ext4 already formatted)
2 = Install with "Use the current partitions"
3 = Install with "Erase and use the whole disk"

At image 3 you can see the installer only seeing swap partition and the one where Linux_Mint is installed (/sdb1 and /sdb2) plus others created by it, the problem is if I carry on it going to cancel Linux-Mint installation here.
All sections are not clickable with both options (with "current partitions" I have been trying different combinations).

Is sceenshot 3 from selecting clearout entire disk? This is what you don't want.

Screen shot 2 if you click on "create partitions and format before installing" it will open another window to clear out expert mode click yes in the window. it will close and clear everything out below "create partitions and format before installing"
Then click next. It will open up a screen similar to screenshot 3 without a list of paritions but still have the + - blocks that is above the partition list. This is where you select the + block to open another window that will allow you to select the partitions your want to use

I don't have enough words to say "thank you" for your kind help. Yes! The last hint of yours has been putting me on the right foothpath: I was doing the mistake of keeping on always selecting "Advanced Settings". That's why never getting the window to select the partitions myself.
Incredible! - I was sure "advanced Settings" giving to me more setting's opportunities.
Well, I have been able to select the partitions but I have been interrupting the installation process because at the end it was showing me the /boot partition (choosen by the installer) as /sdb2: it is the one where Linux-Mint is installed and the installer telling me it going to format the partition.
Doing that I will lose Linux-Mint, right?
That's why I have been interrupting the installation.

I have been trying also adding /sda2 as boot partition but the installer refuses it saying it is already in use. Same result adding /sdb2 as ext4 (it is like that now) and telling to the installer don't format the partition. It refuses and the final result is always the one on image 4.

at the layout section after you select your partitions for / and home, click on the advance settings, below that will be the option to select the drive for the uefi bootloader, selecting sda should get you on your way.

Following the hint at #9 I got the way. Thread finally marked as SOLVED.
As been not easy indeed, I did'nt give up only because receiving help from you.
Installer is not intuitive for noobs in my opinion (multiboot UEFI, at least).
Yes, Gentoo is not for sissies lol hoping I will be able to manage it properly now.
