I had installed this morning bodhi linux 5 on an old computer. standard installation with only bodhi linux 5 ( all my HDD for linux !) The installation seems to be correct, but ... after restarting the computer, bodhi linux asks : the user login : I entered it, the password : I entered it. and it says : incorrect password, try again I'm sure to have entered the correct password I've used french keyboard during installation to define my username and my password I've checked that french keyboard was really active the characters of my password don't depend of qwerty or azerty keyboard. So, I can't entering bodhi linux 5 !!! |
Hi,
I've reinstall completely BL5.0 with a new more simple password (without special characters). And now, it's ok. question : How can I indicate that my thread is RESOLVED ? |
A possible explanation
The same thing happened to me, the cause was that the keyboard layout wasn't the one that I had selected during the installation, you can check that in the right upper corner.

Hi, I am having a simmilar issue but don't know how to reset my password. Got any pointers? (I'm a newbie to Linux so I got a lot to learn).

Hi TrulyEgg,
Maybe, you had just installed Bodhi for some days. the best way for me was to reinstall completely Bodhi with a more simple password. Of course, reset the password is possible, but you need admin and root permissions. and I am always a newbie to explain correctly and precisely how to do, sorry. I hope that other linux members will help you if you don't want to reinstall. personally, I think that discuss on forums about passwords and how to manage them could be dangerous. obviously, you can find on internet tutorials to manage passwords on linux, but you must search by your own means, and that must rest for your responsability. But, this is only my opinion. |
