you mean ubuntu - not bodhi

bodhi is 5.0 or 5.1 maybe by now....

post in the ubuntu forum area. they will help.

ps i haven't used ubuntu in a while so i do not remeber the exact situation to hel you out. what desktop are you using too? that will help people out.

is it the whole bar (usually along the bottom) which is called a shelf in bodhi? or just the part with the open apps which is listed under shelf contents as "Tasks"?

sisqonrw 06-26-2019 02:56 AM

the whole bar is there but not the bar where you can see the opened apps for example firefox, chrome, calculator, libre office.

when i start firefox normally i can see the symbol of firefox. the same with libreoffice.

can you possibly attach a screenshot? i'm not sure i understand what you mean when you say "when i start firefox normally i can see the symbol of firefox." how do you start it not "normally" so that you can't see the symbol?

please find enclosed. i marked red. this is missing.

those attachments were very helpful. thank you :) that's what i thought you were talking about, but wanted to make sure before giving a bunch of instructions that might not help.

the bottom bar is called a shelf. if you right-click in any open area on the shelf, you will get a menu. at the top of the menu is the contents option. if you click on that, you will get a screen titled "Shelf Contents". this should list the items you see in your screenshots like clock, clipboard, start, etc. the one that lists open programs is called Tasks. you need to click on the menu where it says tasks. that line should light up to indicate that you have chosen it. then you need to click "Add Gadget" near the bottom left of the screen.

i have done it so. it works. but how can i expand the whole shelf.

enigma9o7 06-26-2019 09:18 PM

You can rearrange items on your shelf by right click "begin moving gadgets". You can change the size by right click/settings. (Also consider scaling in main settings to affect text size). Taskman automatically gets bigger as you open more apps...

what do you mean by expand whole shelf?
