Terminology theme pack
 

I have added Charles Milette's collection of Terminology themes to both the Bodhi 4.x and 5.x repos. Screenshots for the themes can be found on his website. The themes can be installed individually or one can install all the themes:

their is a mod of a slackbuild that works in manjaro, I have not tried it on Debian/Ubuntu knock offs but it should still work.

Since Charles Milette has added some new themes to his collection,; hence, I have updated the terminology theme pack. He also deleted two duplicate themes but for the moment they have been left in our repos. It is harmless to leave them there. But for the record the duplicated themes are: terminology-theme-ParasioDark and terminology-theme-Snazzy2.

I used to use e16 "back in the day" but this section of the forums is about Bodhi Linux support and we use an e17 fork. So your comment is sorta off topic. I don't think we have any users wishing e16 stuff be added to our repos. Anyways peace :)

yeah I noticed that, e17 is like e20x is, a few other distos just use e17. Why? I have no idea, other then it is maybe 'stable' but it seems to me that it is a waste to have a same look Enlightenment and they are up to version 21x having the same look, .. Mint too does just e17, so I compiled e16 instead, because if I am going to install Enlightenment make over to what it looks like today, then I'd rather be current to what they've developed it to. But that is just me, I suppose.

Enlightenment is up to version 22.4. But the versioning scheme they now use is different than it used to be so there is not much difference in versions e21.x to e22.x. At least to the end users, in fact they all look and act more or less like e17.

Bodhi uses a fork of e17 called moksha which has some things stripped out. Things that truthfully don't always work correctly for all users. Historically we used to stay more or less current with e in git but that lead to problems with stability and our themes not working as expected. So Jeff our founder forked e17 and we changed some things, stripped some things out and so on. Our themes are alot of work and we have essentially lost all our past themers and stefan has taken over trying to fix and update them. New versions of EFL with e17 and any other version of enlightenment tend to break our themes and sometimes our EFL applications. At least we minimize this by sticking with our fork of e17, that is to say Moksha itself usually is not broken by efl updates. And in our experience new versions of enlightenment often have stability issues. This has been esp true lately (e19 to now) as much of e has been undergoing a massive rewrite and now relies upon Elementary functions instead of internal e functions to draw the GUI. And at the same time Elementary has been undergoing a massive rewrite to utilize what the e-devs call 'eo'. And the 'eo' stuff has been undergoing a rapid evolution... all in all it tends to be unstable.

Also historically we have kept an updated version of enlightenment in our 'testing repo' for users wishing to use 'pure' enlightenment. Traditionally I have made and updated this package as well as any addition modules an updated version of e might need. I have not did so for bodhi linux 5.0. Mostly been preoccupied with other concerns and the 'real world', ie non bodhi related things like work.

For the record I primarily use Bodhi 5.0 with our e17 fork but I also use e22 compiled from source a little. I like to keep an eye on how things are progressing.

Note: the views and conclusions above are my own, I do not speak for Bodhi or for the e-devs. But I think most Bodhi team members would agree with the analysis above.

by themes, you mean for e themes, then yes, that is understandable as Enlightenment has a history of working, then not working, then working again cycles, as far as the DT itself, and with its changes the themes always too need to be updated along with it to match whatever they did to make them no longer work in a new version.

I too was running 19 and it went through that cycle so I stopped using it, and setting up the wifi to work, always having to go back to network manager to get wifi and all that entails the setting up E to use it, system tray, mostly. I didn't go back to Enlightenment util it was up to 22 then found out about e16. wondering what that was all about, so I installed it. then got to liking it. so I made that package for it, then seen it can work on other distors too that install e16, as it just copies the files into the needed areas to work, and a quick look on ones own system the script can be changed to match the directory structor then ran and its sets up everything for all of the apps.



Nevertheless I can see the justification rip a copy of e out and standardize it to reduce the head aches E can cause.

thanks ylee. dumb question - where are the repos for all of these themes? are there pics before choosing one that i might like and also how do you access them and where to download and install them too... you know alll the info needed for a rummydummy to figure it out....

thanks - but after 10-15 years of using linux. i just don't get command line/bash stuff. i do not use a smart phone or never will and never texted. hell i never even have my phone on or with me to answer it. hate cell phones and esp smart phones that make people dumb - yes - just look around. i am seriously pondering going back to 95% handwritten pen and paper. use my linux only when i must. the older i get the more luddite i become.

Just installed the terminology theme pack. love it. Thanks for the info.

Glad you like it :D Maybe one day when I can find some time I will try my hand at making terminology theme since I now have lots of code to look at.

How to make it work?
 

How and where do we activate these themes? I downloaded/installed them as described above.

What next?

Open terminology, right click inside the window, select settings in the control dialog that pops up and select Theme in the right hand Options panel. Then select the theme you wish to use from the list/previews in the left panel.

setting under themes in the terminal. I think it was right click on the terminal brings out the settings on the right side of it.

The new themes are:

right click in the terminology window, choose Settings and then choose themes. Samples of all themes
should then be choosable. Just pick your preference.
