i had to uncheck the match moksha theme. weird - it always worked before, i also use adwaita for gtk theme. has always worked and now unchecking it it seems to work, will check other laptops.

oh - it was not this update/upgrade but the one prior to it a few days ago. the other 2 computers were off and when i turned them on to update them the issues was there prior to the new update/upgrade. my daily work one is almost always on so did not ctach it until i turned it off and back on again today.

why the old settings had to be changed is beyond me and i wish i knew what and why the settings i had all this time that never had an issue and the updates that broke the settings caused this stupid issue!

thanks stefan - after relooking at the pic you added i saw the one moksha setting unchecked so i figured I'd try it.
