Possible Bug when installing 5.1.0 App Pach 64bit
I'm trying to install Bodhi from live system using installer and I stuck on installation process. After I chose "something else" to configure the partitions and use xfs as partition type for "/"(check the format checkbox), I get the error "The xfs file system creation in partition .... failed.
The problem is that the installation stuck there, this dialog with the error message cannot close either by pressing the "ok" button or the "x" button to close the window. So I cannot continue, or go back to choose another partition type or cancel/close the installer. |
The installer (ubiquity) is about as upstream (Ubuntu) as it gets, so I think we cannot reasonably expect the Bodhi devs to fix this. :D
My advice: reboot from the live medium and try again with good old EXT4. If need be, you can do a "hard" powercycle reboot; that should be safe in a live session. |
I don't think Bodhi has ever supported that file system. It is missing a necessary package. And for the record and for future reference if the installer is stuck and frozen up and you can't do anything switch to a tty and kill it as root. That works.
I will examine the issue of seeing how hard it would be to support that file system. Thanks for reporting. I never test any file systems other than ext4 so for now just install using ext4 or a file system that is supported. |
I reported this for investigation only. I managed to already install Bodhi to ext4 partition after I killed the installer and start again using ext4 partition type this time.
I had already installed Zorin OS on that partition so I tried it because was already an ubuntu based distribution there and worked fine. And the main issue isn't the xfs support, but the installer stuck because of this. I was expect when I click on "ok" button to return to the base window and use back to choose another partition type. |
