Menu icons disappeared

Hi, guys,

After the recent update, I have almost all menu icons disappeared.

I remember this problem happening before, and there was a successful solution suggested here. I just cannot find that post.

Can someone guide me in the right direction again?

Thank you,

BM

I had this happen too at some point. In my case I had to rm ~/.cache/efreet/* if I remember right; probably try renaming it first and if that works, delete it...

Menu icons disappeared

There is a dot in front of folder name thus it is hidden. In pcmanfm press ctrl h to reveal the hidden files and folders. Do it in your home/user folder

All you have to do is type "rm ~/.cache/efreet/*" from terminal

rm means remove

~/ is your home directory, same as /home/bodhi if you didn't set a different username

so the full path would be /home/bodhi/.cache/efreet

* means everything

or do it from pcmanfm as described, after selecting show hidden files

Hi, enigma9o7 and the_waiter,

Thank you for your help. It worked perfectly.

I made invisible folders visible and moved that efreet folder to the "Documents" folder just in case I needed to revert the deletion.

Now everything is back in order. I need to learn what the "efreet" directory is, what can mess it up, and how to prevent it.

Thank you again for your help.

  1. what is "cache"? answer.
  2. i happen top know that bodhi's desktop environment is based on enlightenment. the folder name "efreet" suggests it belongs to one of enlightenments applications.
  3. look inside the folder and see what it contains. i guess plain text & images, easy to look at.
