Laptop - Lock Screen on Suspend - Close lid

Hi All,

I have been using Bodhi for a number of years now. When I first installed it on Macbook Air(2010) I had an issue with the screen not locking when the lid was closed and the system suspended.

Somehow I fixed (kid of) the above behaviour but I cannot remember how.

I have now installed Bodhi 5.1.0 on a Dell Latitude E7450. I am experiencing the same behaviour. I am able to lock the screen with ctrl + alt + l. I can also lock the screen with '/usr/bin/enlightenment_remote -desktop-lock' at the CLI.

Could anybody point me in the right direction? None of the settings in the Bodhi settings panel, such as lock on suspend, have any effect.

I remember vaguely that systemd was handling the lid close and I had to set HandleLidSwitch=ignore in /etc/systemd/logind.conf. I have tried this but it appears that the lid close it not recognised at all if I do this despite the ACPI settings in Bodhi.

Thanks in advance,

Pigeon

In general, it may also be necessary to check the desktop environment configuration as well. I'm not a Bodhi user, but see if this helps...

Thanks both.

I have ticked lock on suspend. The computer would lock on suspend without issue just not when closing the lid. The computer locked correctly when screen blanking or pressing ctrl + alt + l.

I have resolved the issue. The problem was, I think, that systemd was handling the lid close and suspending the laptop. I have set that to ignore in the settings now. I did try, before doing this, getting systemd to run the command to lock the screen but could not figure it out.

I then installed ACPID after which I could see that the lid switch button was detected by the system. Bodhi seetings were to suspend on lid close but initially the system did not pick up the lid close. After a reboot it started to pick up the lid close and then suspend the system and lock the screen.

Thanks

Pigeon
