Is Bodhi actively supported?
 

I'm new to Linux and very new to Bodhi. I've just installed it on a friend's underpowered laptop and the performance is way beyond anything I expected. Wow! Just wow!

However, I stumbled upon this off-the-cuff comment that was recently posted on LQ: "as far as using Bodhi, it is an unsupported Disto, the maintainer/owner bailed out and basically removed everything on his sight about it. I got rid of my install of it when I seen that."

Please can someone reassure me!

Bodhi is just as fully supported as it ever was.

i agree with ylee. active as ever. developing as we read and write this thread.

Today we Bodhi devs (Ylee and me) are discussing about the dark green theme bug Ylee came cross when patching the ePad. I will fix the theme in the evening :)

I am greatly relieved to hear that Bodhi support is alive and well. I'm running Bodhi 5.0 on a friend's ancient laptop; Bodhi is running really well in just 512 MB RAM with a 1GHz Centrino chip! It's become a useful machine again, and I suspect it's now better and faster than when it was new running Windows XP!

Thanks for explaining what happened. Clearly it was a misunderstanding.

I'm very impressed by Bodhi's performance on my friend's ancient laptop, and I'm so glad I found it. Previously I had tried Linux Mint 32 bit, but performance was sluggish and despite trying to tune the paging, it would sometimes pause for long periods while thrashing the HD. On the other hand, Bodhi runs really well and has given the laptop a new lease of life.

Indeed so. Like an idiot I neglected to read the rest of the thread before I posted my question. Put it down to my incompetence. (sigh)

i didn't read the thread you indicated, but was unsure of the level of support since the old forum had been taken down. i was glad you asked. i had been wondering as well :)

Brilliant isn't it! I love it. So fast and runs on anything :-). My other favourite is Xubuntu on older hardware but it can be slow and sluggish on some machines but Bodhi just makes them zip! I am a bit in love with it :cool: Not keen on Linux Mint somehow - I could never install anything else after it without wiping the mbr for some reason.

Regarding support - this page lists which long term support versions are supported and for how long. So Bodhi 4 until 2021 (based on Ubuntu 16) and Bodhi 5 until 2023 (based on Ubuntu 18). Unlike some distros long term support which only have 3 years compared to Ubuntu's 5 years.
