Install from USB- No bootable media found
 

Hallo.
I wanted to try Bodhi to revamp a quite old Desktop, for which also Lubuntu is quite slow.

I downloaded bodhi-5.0.0-legacy.iso, and it checks OK with md5sum.

I then created a bootable USB stick with UNETBOOTIN, exactly like I did some day ago to install Lubuntu (which did install correctly, I am just not satisfied with the performance).

When I try and boot by the USB stick based on bodhi-5.0.0-legacy, I get to the proper selection map in which I have to choose the type of boot, and it seems to work because get to the splash screen that tells me that the system is being launched.

But at the end the screen goes black and I get an error message saying "no bootable media found", or something like that.

I tried it also on my on PC and I get the same message.

I tried to delete and reburn the USB stick 2 times, but with the same result.

I also tried all the possible options (UEFI boot, BIOS boot, direct install) but always with the same result.

What am I doing wrong?

you got Lubuntu still installed? use that open a terminal , find your usb address, then go to the directory that your iso is in through your terminal, and, plug in your usb stick,and,
x = drive letter don't forget to put the proper one or you might screw up something. you want the device not the partition.

But... what was the problem? Unetbootin losing something? Or the installer needs the .iso phisically on the hard disk?

Well, now I try to really install.

Unetbootin some say its become bugy, it does not even work on slackware.

i agree - the first many times i tried it it never worked. after years i did get it work live but the install never worked. that is why i always burn a dvd iso and use that via a usb drive since my thinpads do not have a drive.

OK, well, whatever...

It worked and I am really satisfied by the performances, thanks.

Of course, the desktop environment is more basic than the KDE I am used to, but nothing unexpected.

Just a last tip before this goes out of topic:
where do I find some guide to get the few system tools I need (for example, chosing keyboard layout?)

The same thing happened for me with rufus for windows for bodhi 5 (but not bodhi 4.5). Rufus for windows has a 'dd' option, then it works. Under linux just use dd as described above.

(And lubuntu installed fine for me too w/o doing that).
