thank you cordx for your nice message !

maybe i spoke a little to fast...
my problem is not completely resolved but maybe i know the reason why ...
in fact, when i reboot my computer alone, it works, the computer has remembered the monitor settings, but when i connect it to my tv, there's nothing on the screen of the tv...
i am not sure but i think that it is because have made a louncher with only the computer when not connected to tv
i think i should try to make the launcher one more time but that time, when the pc is connected to tv in order to decide monitor settings for both screens...
i don't know if what i say is clear, but if it is, could you please tell me if i have the right explanation ??

but now i have a new problem when i connect to tv :
i have installed onboard in order to drive the pc from my sofa when it is connected to tv
a few days ago i could hide the virtual keyboard and it appeared as soon as i was on an area where one is supposed to write something (it appeared automatically and when it was hidden, i had a little icon (four little squares black and white)
i have no longer this
i believe i have understood it was because gnome had to start with the boot

i have planned the starting of gnome at the boot, but, when the computer boots, i have a message error saying gnome could not be opened ...

please have you an idea of the reason why gnome doesn't want to open at the boot and why i have no more the little icon with 4 black and white squares when on board is hidden ?

in advance i thank you

you are quite welcome i think your reasoning here is sound. the initial shell script that ARandR writes will be based on what is connected when you make it so creating that again with the tv connected should give you a script that will address both monitors.

because this is an issue separate from your initial question about monitors, i would suggest opening a new thread to get some help with it. i make that suggestion for a couple of reasons. the first is that i don't use the virtual keyboard and can't help with that quickly or easily so it will help to see if there are others who can lend a hand. the second reason is that if someone else comes across a similar issue, it will help them to find help in a new thread instead of having to dig through to the end of this one to find it i hope that makes sense.

thank you cordx for your answers always very fine

for the first thank you to tell me i was right
so when i have a moment i will try to save monitor settings with a second screen connected

for the second, i completely understand and the two appear to me as really good reasons !
i'm sorry i didn't think...
and perhaps now a third reason : not to mix different problems on the same topic

so, when i have a moment too, i will create a new topic

thank you for all
back soon

hi cordx
finally i could use onboard with two screens and it works (i had probably done something wrong)
that time, the picture is in the middle of the screen of tv when i connect it to the computer

but it remains a little problem : the picture is a little too stretched : too large and not high enough

however on onboard, among the choices of resolution for the tv screen, only one gives the picture in the middle of the screen...
it is surprising because the tv is rather new (about 3 years
but i tell me it is maybe because with bodhi 3, there are only a limited choice....and maybe with bodhi 4 and, better with bodhi 5, i could have a choice that allows a picture not too strectched...
and probably bodhi 4 or 5 would be better than bodhi 3...

i have tried to put bodhi 4 or 5 on my computer but i could not : the pc reads only cd and doesn't want to boot on a usb key...and bodhi 4 and 5 are heavier than 700mo and cannot be downloaded on a cd...
but perhaps there is a solution ??
as you adviced me before,as it is a different question, i think it is better to post a new thread...so i'll do that
thank you for all !
