How to install HPLIP in Bodhi 5.1?

In each distro I know, I install hplip by using the run script from the sourceforge page. I run that script, reboot the system and I get the HP icon in the tray. But no matter how hard I try to do this on
Bodhi 5.1-64bit, with bodhi-printing installed, I never get that icon into the tray.
I even purged all hplip* packages, and tried to install versions of hplip and hplip-gui offered from Synaptic, it simply doesn't work.

How do I have do do this successfully?

synaptic is your friend
dont forget HPLIP-toolbox
Probably have to kill the default Bodhi first ?
I ran Bodhi years ago... I got over it.

I installed it on my laptop when BL5.1 was released. Installed from synaptic. I had no issues getting it installed or working. I don't remember any details but I do remember it was a straightforward install and use it.
