Smile How to add shortcuts to apps and folders to desktop?

I am a newbie to Linux . Bodhi linux is ridiculously awesome. I can't wait for the next release.

I am able to add apps to ibar but was not able to figure out how to add app and shortcuts to desktop. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Fit and Slim Bodhi rocks!!!

depending on desktop, some you can just put a .desktop file in your desktop folder.

We need to turn on some switches

Firstly, you have to load "Desktop icons" module in menu-settings-modules-files tab

now go to /usr/share/applications and copy .desktop file to ~/desktop directory in your home dir as BW-userx describes.

Let us know if you succeed

You can also put an ibar anywhere on your desktop by going to settings/gadgets. Then lock icon move.

If you do turn on desktop icons, note all files in your desktop folder appear on the desktop, not just the .desktop files.

Note some desktop files are in ~/.local/share/applications too
