How can I get a tray indication that VPN is active [solved - kind of]
 

I use Nordvpn. I've installed the client successfully and it works normally. My question, is there some way I can get an indication in the tray as to whether the VPN is active or not.

probably ask official support. probably you can create a widget, if there was no other way.

Problem is moot. I've gone to Mint Xfce
 

Just couldn't fight the desktop.

nm-applet shows a lock indicator when vpn is active... in system tray...
