File Manager twice?

I have two file manager icons in my menu :-) I am not sure why - it may be after I installed Cheese. Any way I can get rid of one of them? Have done update and autoremove.

1. try to restart Moksha firstly
2. if doesn't help look up the filemanager.desktop file in your system. You did not mentioned which FM you have twice. Pcmanfm? You can find almost all desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ directory. Some could be at your home dir under /.local.

Correction sorry. I have "Files" twice (File Manager icon) under "Accessories" but only have File Manager once under System Tools (PCManFM). Tried resetting Moksha but still there. This is on Bodhi 4 by the way.

...and what happens when you click on Files under Accessories?

Stella456 10-19-2018 06:34 AM

Sorted. Uninstalled Cheese and they went away. Autoremove then removed Nautilus. I've had this before in the past now I think about it on Bodhi 2. I might try reinstalling cheese and then removing Nautilus?

Just seen your last post - when they were clicked on they were both the same but displaying black folders instead of the usual. Gone now :-)

Reinstalled Cheese, they came back. Uninstalled Nautilus then did autoremove. They're gone now and Cheese still works. All seems fine. I do remember this happening before now. A Cheese thing. Why does it do that?!

Yes, some apps really install other dependecies. I have no idea why the Cheese needs Nautilus. This is a package maintainers work.
I am just looking at Cheese deps under BL 5:

The following additional packages will be installed:
cheese-common gnome-video-effects gstreamer1.0-clutter-3.0 libcheese-gtk25
libcheese8 libclutter-1.0-0 libclutter-1.0-common libclutter-gst-3.0-0
libclutter-gtk-1.0-0 libcogl-common libcogl-pango20 libcogl-path20 libcogl20
libyelp0 yelp yelp-xsl
Suggested packages:
gnome-video-effects-frei0r gnome-video-effects-extra

I see no Nautilus here. Different package in Ubuntu repository.

See the outcome of this command:
apt show cheese

Thank you. I've reinstalled Cheese and removed Nautilus again but google found this same issue. Seems it's better to install Cheese via Synaptic than via the terminal.

This could be also possible in terminal

sudo apt-get --no-install-recommends install cheese

Thank you :-) I'll know for next time - I wonder how many other people have nautilus installed without realising!

the_waiter 10-19-2018 10:44 AM

Yes, probably many :)

i thought i saw this pop up on my 5.0 system the other day, but then couldn't find it. just saw it again when i right clicked inside a pcmanfm window on a folder icon, one of the options that shows up is "Enlightenment File Manager" ("File Manager provided by Enlightenment" shows up on mouse over). it isn't a bother at all and actually doesn't launch anything when i click on it.

same issue

Hi!

Just to mention: I have installed Bodhi 5 on my computer some days ago and it's the same issue.
In the systems menu Bodhi shows the PCManFM (if not uninstalled) and in the applications menu it shows "files" twice (if nautilus is installed). I have no idea why that is. I do not have cheese on my PC.

For now I am ok wiht just using PCManFM (and not installing Nautilus).
