Talking Does IBUS work with Moksha? (typing Chinese)

To write Chinese characters?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...e_Input_Method

I see the icon in the status bar but somehow when I switch to Chinese it seems not to work.

Michael,

My desktop is Ubuntu 18.04 and not Moksha. I use gcin in order to write "Traditional Chinese Chracters." Currently I am having re-boot problems that may or may not be tied to ibus. Even though I have a current problem with re-booting, my gcin Chinese character writing has not been affected.

I did look at a Mokska installation and the original OS on the video was Ubuntu 14. I am not familiar with the set-up operations on Moksha so I am not certain I can be of a help.

I am trying to ascertain if, or if not, I can help you. At this point I would like to ask four questions:

1. Can you give us your OS information?
2. Are you trying to use gcin, fcitx, or other Chinese set-up information?
3. Are you trying to use (1) Traditional Chinese. (2) Simplified Chinese. (3) The Pinyin Chinese method.
4. Are you familiar with BPMF?

Any OS system information concerning any of the above questions would help me ascertain if I can help you.

I do have one suggestion. Are you familiar with the "pinyinjoe.com website?" If not, here is the link that may help you if I cannot.

www.pinyinjoe.com

At the website they have links to Linux, Ubuntu 18.

Keep us posted on any progress.

Angry

1. Ubuntu 18.04 (Bodhi 5.0)

2. Not sure

3. I want to type simplified with pinyin

4. no

Thanks a lot.

I mean I can start ibus and I can switch to Chinese, I see then the "PIN" symbol in the IBUS taskline icon.
But typing zhongwen in a window does nothing. To be honest, I think this was not working when I used Kubuntu too.

OK, I got it to work with fcitx.

apt install fcitx fcitx-googlepinyin fcitx-table-wbpy fcitx-pinyin fcitx-sunpinyin
apt-get install chinese*
gnome-language-selector complained about missing stuff and installed a sh...load of things.

I also had set the keyboard to Chinese but set it now to pinyin.
