debian package maintainer steps down

There are a few developers abandoning the GNU world recently: Linus Torvalds (he came back though), Ike Doherty from Solus, etc.
I see no reason to panic but the trend is definitely unhealthy. This includes Ubuntu changing its course into unpredicted directions, majors distros are sold out ... I hope the Linux community will go through this year without major losses. BM |
i agree!

he took a much-discussed break last fall, but that's not the same as "abandoning the GNU world". quite the opposite, he even says so in that post. also reading stapelberg's article, he is not exactly "abandoning the GNU world" either; maybe you should read it, it lists all pressure points very precisely. and what the hugo is "majors distros are sold out" supposed to mean? |
As the constitution mandates, they called for nominations - no-one responded within the required time window.
So they extended the time, and still none have come forward. Very early in my Linux journey I ambled into a Debian meeting (actual bodies not avatars) to see if I might want to join and have a say in things in the future. Quite an eye-opener - convinced me never to go near Debian. I wonder how many others have felt (or feel) the same. |
love to hear more... the unofficial official or official unofficial forum have some nasty people there and snobs on top of it all too. A couple of the people there were very nice. i left that place and use debian on one of the old laptops on my own - I check into the debian area here though. It is sad they act like they do and makes debian look bad in a way. Problem is they are so arrogant and blind they do not see the nasty stuff they say. Preety much - if you are dumb enough to ask questions than debian is not for you find another distro - mods and spam assassins alike seem to take that attitude.

^ the forums have very little connection to actual debian maintenance people, maybe none.

yes but as a few others there have said it is mentioned and linked on the debian site as the place to look for help.
