Can't connect to 1 specific wifi network
 

Hi all, my first post here :hattip:

I hope you guys can help me out. I tried to search the forum here but couldn't find the answer to this problem.

I installed Bodhi Linux a few weeks ago and so far everything worked fine. I ran into a problem however: I can't connect to my wifi network at home any more.

I used to be able to connect to this network, but suddenly not any more, I can connect to other wifi networks so my wifi adapter is ok. Other devices can still connect to the network I want to connect to. So I don't really understand what could be wrong and where the problem is. The network appears in the list of available wifi networks, but often after some time it disappears (I think after I disable and enable wifi). When it's still available and I click the network to connect to it, it won't connect.

I tried turning on and off the wifi, restarted my laptop, didn't help. I also removed the network connection and then added it again. This also didn't change anything.

Any help would be appreciated :), or a forum link that might provide an answer. I can of course provide any details and command line output that could diagnose the problem.

the usual suggestions:
1. check the logs in (/var/log)
2. try another OS (a live CD)
3. check config (if a wrong password/token/settings make it useless)

I found the problem. It turns out that my laptop has a quite old network card, and that my housmate changed some of the settings of the router. My network card was too old so support these changes. So now we turned the settings back and everything works again.
