Bodhi Linux 5-esudo broken and blocking installation of other software

I installed BL 5 on my desktop and all worked fine until I updated the system. Now the old problem of not being able to open synaptic from the menu (pxexec) has come back.
I had this problem with BL 4.5 and did as was suggested on the forum then, which was to re-install esudo and it worked.
However, on BL 5 when I try to remove esudo with synaptic it informs me that the package is in a very bad inconsistent state. It try's to remove the file /usr/bin/pxexec which doesn't exist and the removal fails.
I'm really sorry to be bringing this up again as I've seen on the forum that this is a problem which the dev. team is aware of but isn't high on the priority list.
My problem is that I can't install tnef in order to open windat files because synaptic needs to remove esudo in order to install tnef and nothing can budge esudo because of the missing file. I've tried terminal with rm, no joy, synaptic, no joy.
Can anyone please tell me if there perhaps is a workaround or a means of removing this corrupt package?
Many thanks

See my prior post on the issue. I had to change some changes to make our next release smoother. Sorry if ya missed the news.

Hi, thanks so much for the quick reply.
I did exactly as you said but unfortunately still the same with synaptic not opening from menu. Could the missing pkexec file in /usr/bin/ be the problem?
I notice that winff does not work as well, but works perfectly on my netbook running BL 4.5? Maybe unrelated but seems a big coincidence.
