I tried it out, clicking on the desktop, on the right side of the screen - the menu opened, cascaded to the right, and then it ran out of space (it was half off-screen), it did not change to cascade in the other direction.
Bodhi is still the only distro with a menu that doesn't change the direction of it's cascading sub-menus when it runs out of space. The issue has been raised, and they refuse to address it.
In usage, it is rather irritating, when you think that every other program and operating system since the days of MS-DOS, have had this working properly. (2 cases in point: I remember Works DOS version, and desqview/386, that had no problem with their menus cascading change direction when out of space in the window - and this has been expected behavior of every program since, be it under Windoze, Mac, Android. Under a few Linux distros I've tried that have a menu from an on-desktop click, it works fine as well).
(in Bodhi's defense, they have a very small handful of users who are extremely vocal against any changes, and who's voices drown out anyone who dares make mention of this, and they appear to have the developer under their thumb. They'll even ban you from their forum if you bring it up.)
no we are used to stuff - that is the way it is. also there are only a couple to few people that develop bodhi and they all have full-time jobs. they do it out of passion and love.
I made this feature particularly for your need and as I explained on the old forum (and you apparently read it), you have to turn this feature on. Maybe weak memory
Menu-settings-Settings Panel-Menus-Menu settings-Miscellaneous-No menu scroll (experimental)
EDIT: I hope I am talking to the right person. There was one user called Timmi which constantly complained to the Bodhi features ..and yes he was banned from the old forum for arrogant approach

Wow, this is a 'gem' that I stumbled across just by browsing through the posts. Now it's turned on in my system. Gives a very nice effect. I wonder how many Bodhi users know about it?
Also Stefan's Desktop setup is very impressive and gave me some good ideas about how to get surplus items out of my top-of-the-screen Shelf.

definitely helpful. i had missed the alt + esc to launch the quick launcher. also quite handy.
Why on God's green earth would we start making responses to topics from half a decade ago?
It seems to me that you guys would want us researching our question, rather than it be asked numerous times, don't you? And it came up in a search result. Your response does prompt the question: how come it's taking over half a decade to answer? Is the answer so obvious that it is a stupid question? Sorry, but I was sincerely interested, and to me, it didn't seem all that obvious.
Sadly, God's earth is less and less green... that, we do have the answer to.
