BL4.5-32bit + BL5-64bit - Losing wifi after a day or two

When this happens I look at the list of available wifi's, and it says my wifi is there and connected, but it isn't, because the wifi tray icon is totally grey without any white bars.

wifi.powersave is set to 2 already but without any effect.

I'm using a TP-Link - Archer T4U AC1300 with the rtl8812au driver from gordboy.

I'm facing this issue for months now, but I cannot find anything that's causing this situation.

What can I do to fix this, please?

EDIT:
I also have this issue on a Xubuntu 18.04.2-64bit.
That's why I'm posting this in the Ubuntu section, too.
