Aspire Aspire 3000 with sis video works on live DVD but not on installed bodhi 5 legacy?

The bodhi legacy 5.0 live DVD boots and acts as expected with a decent resolution however once bodhi is installed it boots up in a 640x480 resolution and appears to default to the fbdev driver. Removing the fbdev driver will make it fall back to vesa which will show 1024x768 but in a glitchy way with parts of windows off the screen and when you try to reach them parts of the screen redraw themselves making things difficult. What exactly would be the difference between the live DVD and the install as far as video driver choices? Supposedly the video should be able to do 1280x1024. I tried one or two sample xorg.conf config files from the net with no real success.

Thanks for reading.

No idea of the answer to what you're asking.

But a possible workaround to manually set the right resolution that works for me on one of my computers with bad EDID. I'm too lazy to search for you right now to find the details, but there's a command to check the numbers you need that you use to add the mode to use xrandr to fix everything.

i have seen threads describing this exact problem with SiS graphics.
please check them out.
keep in mind bodhi is ubuntu-based.
also search the web (askubuntu etc.).
