Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 LiveDVD and Flash released

Two years of Bluewhite64 Linux, two new releases. I am delighted to announce the availability of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 LiveDVD and Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 Flash (LiveUSB)!

I hope you will enjoy the new Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 LiveDVD including the stable SMP Linux Kernel 2.6.24.7 with advanced features and performance. The LiveDVD is designed to bring a modern Linux Desktop, for the AMD64/EM64T architectures, including the modularized X.org 1.4.0.90 (7.3) with Compiz (including manager and extra plugins/3D effects), the award winning KDE 3.5.9 in 65 languages, OpenOffice.org 2.3, the Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 (flash ready) and Konqueror (flash/java ready) web browsers, Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 and KMail 1.9.9 email clients, Swaret 1.6.3 and Qtswaret 0.1.5-3 package managers, digiKam 0.9.3 for digital photo management, the Krusader 1.90.0 Twin Panel File Manager, the MPlayer 1.0rc2 Media Player, the IA32 emulation to run 32-bit programs, aMSN 0.97 - a free open source MSN Messenger clone, and many more server and desktop based programs and tools. See the Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 LiveDVD page for download and more details. For screen captures, please visit our gallery with the new LiveDVD.

The Bluewhite64 12.1 Flash is specially designed to run entirely from a USB Flash Pen Drive with the possibility to choose your working environment from the beginning: Command Line Interface (CLI - recommended for servers) and/or Graphical User Interface (GUI - recommended for Desktop computers).

The "save changes" feature has been improved and enabled by default in this new version of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 Flash. It is done using "bw64save.dat" file which is a compressed image of empty loop XFS file system. Depending of the Pen Drive size, you will have different space size for saving your changes: for 2GB there is 375MB, for the 4GB is 2375MB and for the 8GB is 6395MB space available. In this way, you can use the Bluewhite64 12.1 Flash as a mobile HDD without any data loss. Please see the Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 Flash page for more details.

Enjoy this two news releases && Happy birthday Bluewhite64!

I downloaded this before you made the announcement. I must say that I am impressed with it, lightning fast on my box. I'm downloading the 12.1 Install DVD now and will give it a spin later. Hopefully it is just as fast as the Live DVD.
