SUSE Linux 9.0 in VirtualBox

SUSE Linux 9.0 was released October 15, 2003. Digging through the Wayback Machine web archives, this appears to be the first release when SUSE became all capitalized in both the company's name and the distribution's name.

In KDE, the separate button to access various system tools on the panel disappeared, leaving just the KDE main menu. For whatever reason the GNOME icon set and theme totally changed. OpenOffice.org saw a minor feature version upgrade to 1.1, not showing any dramatic changes.

In Linux distributions from about 2002 onwards I don't have to find hacks to get graphics to function properly. After setting the OS to Linux kernel 2.4 in the VirtualBox New VM wizard, there were no hiccups with set up and installation.
