Limit Times a User Can Use The Computer

Posted 10-29-2007 at 09:27 PM by w322

If you have children or teenagers, you might want to limit the times of day that they can use the computer. Here is how I did it:

For this example, "sammy" is the username of the user to be limited.

To limit when the user can login, edit /etc/security/time.conf and add:

Posted 10-29-2007 at 08:40 PM by w322

I installed Kubuntu 7.10 and during boot (after grub menu) the Samsung LCD monitor said 'Not optimum mode, recommended mode 1280 x 1024'. Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure usplash

Posted 02-23-2006 at 08:40 PM by w322

I like numlock to be on.
Here is how to have it turn-on when you log-in:

1. apt-get install numlockx
2. ln -s /usr/bin/numlockx ~/.kde/Autostart/numlockx
