How to Install LAMP-SERVER using ‘tasksel’ in Ubuntu 10.10

Here the simple steps for install 'LAMP-server' using "tasksel"in ubuntu 10.10

Open your terminal and follow the following commands.


1. sudo apt-get install tasksel
2. sudo tasksel install lamp-server
3. "set your 'MYSQL Password"
4. sudo gedit /var/www/phpinfo.php (Add the following mini php code in this file)

BSD-Games:

BSD Games is a collection of the classic text based games.BSD has been
considered a branch of UNIX.

To install this, in deb packages derivatives :
$ sudo apt-get install bsdgames

To install this, in rpm packages derivatives :

$ yum install bsd-games


For .deb package like ubuntu use "bsdgames" (Without hyphen)

For .rpm pakage like Fedora use "bsd-games"...

Last one week fully i spent time wit BTRFS.

Btrfs is a new copy on write filesystem for Linux aimed at implementing advanced features while focusing on fault tolerance, repair and easy administration. Initially developed by Oracle, Btrfs is licensed under the GPL and open for contribution from anyone.

Forget the 'cd' command !!!

Autocd:

$ shopt -s autocd

It's a Auto Directory changing command. We can change into any
directory without the use of 'cd' command.So we can utilize the time
of typing "cd" command.


thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ shopt -s autocd
thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ Desktop/
cd Desktop/
thasu@tha-admin-da ~/Desktop $ cd
thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ /var/log/cups/
cd /var/log/cups/

Purpose of “SysRq” button in our keyboard.

Hai friends,

When i started to use computer, From that day i had doubt with “PrtSc/SysRq” button. All of us knew the purpose of “PtrSc” button (i.e) “Print screen the current window “. But most of us don’t know the use of “SysRq” button. today i search in google about this, i got the answer. The small description os “Sysrq” button. ;-)

The main use of this button is,

Reboot machine when everything is hanging
