Run your Slackware 64 bit system with the latest stable kernel – 3.15.6!

Posted 07-28-2014 at 11:32 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

I have compiled a very useful (as I think) 64 bit kernel for Slackware 12.0 – 14.1 and/or all Slackware derivatives. For example Slax, Zenwalk, SlackEX and Exton|Defender. The kernel is compiled exactly the same way as Slackware’s latest kernel huge. “My” kernel 3.15.6-x86_64-exton has even more support for new hardware, etc. Kernel 3.15.6 is the latest stable kernel available from Kernel.org. Released (20140717).

SlackEX 14.1 :: build 140326

Posted 03-26-2014 at 02:35 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)
Updated 03-27-2014 at 02:15 AM by exton

New features in version 140326 of SlackEX
SlackEX build 140326 comes as a ZIP-file for direct installation to an USB stick. I have replaced kernel 3.12.6-x86_64-exton with kernel 3.13.7-x86_64-exton with support for “everything”. All packages are upgraded to the latest version by now (140326). Study the full package LIST.

Install SlackEX to hard drive
Use this INSTRUCTION . You can (if you want) use Grub2 (new GRUB) as boot loader. (Slackware original still uses LILO)....
