Pyplate CMS now works with Nginx

Posted 04-04-2014 at 11:56 AM by Pyplate

Pyplate.com has been on line for almost a week now, and I've had a good response. Several people have used the beta version of Pyplate to build simple web sites. One or two installation issues have come up, so I've updated the installation script.

I've also written a new installation script for anyone who wants to use Pyplate with Nginx. See www.pyplate.com/install-pyplate for more information. I've only published this today, so I'm still looking for beta testers.

fun around MIPS: qemu-system-mips

Posted 11-06-2010 at 10:33 PM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])

Yesterday I was surprised when discovered that,... ehm, well... I'm such a newbie in this... that most routers using MIPS not ARM CPU as I thought before
Since that, I've also tried to look at MIPS in QEMU. There is even less information about this, though debian to help I was surprised I've missed it last time when doing experiments with qemu-system-arm, but now it's very helpful with qemu-system-mips.
I used aurel32's page as a start point: http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/qemu/mips/...

chroot PHP for use with nginx

Posted 10-31-2010 at 10:40 AM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])

I never had to deal with chrooted environment before, and there isn't lots of info out there on the net. Best result I've found so far is http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-...oted-jail.html
Actually, it covers almost entire topic, but I'm going to explain how to bind it with nginx in gentoo linux environment.
Say, you have a site example.org with some app you don't really trust in /app dir. Your own-written site scripts are executed in non-chrooted PHP environment...

nginx 'autoindex' module bug: patch committed

Posted 02-07-2010 at 05:17 PM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])
Tags bug, nginx, patch

Two or three days ago I was cleaning up my webserver hosts, and adding some stuff.
Occasionally, I've created a file with name containing '?'(question sign) in it. This directory had autoindex enabled, served by nginx.
I've tried to view the directory listing in my browser(just to see how it is shown) and found a bug: autoindex module wasn't URL-encoding the question sign. So it resulted in request to /somedir/filename instead of /somedir/filename%3f as it should have been.

Transparent dynamic reverse proxy with nginx

Posted 07-12-2009 at 02:07 PM by cmdln
Tags nginx, proxy

A while back I wrote about using Apache as a dynamic reverse proxy. Anyone who has done even minimal research into web servers knows that Apache is the swiss army knife. It trys to be everything for everyone, and like a swiss army knife may not be as good as a more refined too at least as far as efficiency is concerned. (Read More)
