I have been working on an i486 version of PsychOS (https://psychoslinux.gitlab.io) called "PsychOS486" that I will hopefully have a release between sometime now and by the end of the year. It's honestly been sort of rough figuring it out and has only reinforced my belief that the window of...

Old New Box

Posted 05-11-2020 at 12:53 AM by zaivala

I spent some time today successfully setting up a box I inherited when a friend died a few years ago. It is in surprisingly good condition with great specs except for the i3 CPU in it, and is easily upgraded to an i5 or i7 or even Xeon. I cloned my M.2 SSD in the Galago Pro 2, but made some errors getting it installed; I had to reinstall Mint twice, but then got it completely updated and almost completely back to what I had in the Galago. I also did not lose anything in my OpenMandriva Lx 4.1 partition....

A Grub problem

Posted 04-13-2020 at 05:03 AM by malghwell
Tags grub, linux

By mistake, I deleted some of the snapshot which I recovered the /etc before I reboot. When I rebooted it comes to Grub screen and stopped there. The /boot directory is deleted but still there is another snapshot which contains the /boot. I could see the other boot directory but I don't know the Grub commands to boot from it. Once I boot I will recover back by copying it to the /boot but now I need to login. Any help?

I have compiled yet another Ubuntu/Debian kernel for 64 bit systems. This time kernel 4.18.3-exton, equivalent to Kernel.org’s latest stable kernel 4.18.3 released 20180818.

What’s new in Linux kernel 4.18?

Install kernel 4.18.3-exton in Ubuntu/Debian based distributions
My self-compiled Ubuntu kernels can be used in all types of modern Ubuntu systems, including Mint. They can even be used in Debian Stretch (Debian 9) and Debian Buster (upcoming Debian 10). ...

The beauty of Perl

Posted 07-27-2018 at 06:13 PM by anestis89

It's been some time from my first post. I have almost finished "Learning Perl",
2nd edition from Randal Schwartz and Tom Christiansen, and I have to say I was
amazed by this language. Now, this edition is rather old (1999) because I borrowed
it from my local library, today it's in the 7th edition, but the language didn't
change very much. It is still Perl 5.

A few words about Perl: Perl is an old language. It was created in 1987 by Larry...
