I told myself Id write a post when I eventually got this sorted out. Im not a long-term Linux user, I started in Feb 2017 with Ubuntu, moving onto Debian in April 2017 and Slackware in January 2018. I had been intrigued by Slackware for years and wanted to run it for as long: it was a like a geek-goal, some sort of nerd ambition. But I also knew that the road to doing so would be hard, and Id have a steep learning curve and a lot of research...

Slackware 14.1 - Use persistent disk names in lilo and fstab before adding a second hard disk

I recently added to a laptop a second SATA Hitachi hard disk (HDD) using a HDD caddy that replaced the CD/DVD drive. This second HDD was from an old laptop whose motherboard died and had a Windows Vista partition and a linux partition.

The first HDD (Toshiba) in the laptop was partitioned as follows:
/dev/sda1 for the swap
/dev/sda2 for the root directory of Slackware 14.1 64bit with ext4 filesystem

After adding the second HDD, the boot process failed...

A more complete VGA Resolutions list for GRUB and LILO.

This is what I have figured out so far if you know the codes for the settings where there are question marks(?) please PM me and I will update this list. Hopefully someone fines it and feels its useful. I always wondered about it with my computers being setup with GRUB's VGA modes.

VGA Resolution Codes for GRUB & Lilo

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...e-font-609125/ raises the issue of how do I set, at boot, the resolution of my consoles (tty's); not just during boot, but for afterwards too.

This got me thinking about a chart of the "vga=" codes that are available.
