Multipath on Debian Lenny and Intel Modular Server (MFSYS25)

Posted 08-16-2010 at 02:56 AM by bittner (Notes on Linux)
Updated 09-13-2010 at 04:33 AM by bittner (added link to FAI discussion)

The Intel Modular Server is a complete server system designed to simplify a complex fail-safe IT environment. One characteristic is that it provides virtual disks and two storage controllers for redundancy. Systems that use those virtual disks have two physical paths to access their disk(s). (NOTE: This is not a RAID solution against disk defects, but safeguards against a breakdown of a storage controller!)

When you install and boot Linux on such a machine you will see both paths...

Before asking here or on the <debian-user> mailing list, you should read the Installation Guide,
or if you already have Debian installed, the Debian Reference.
Also take the time to read:

debian lenny - STABLE bug.

Posted 07-21-2010 at 11:21 AM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])

I have just lost my backup data thanks to STABLE versions of stupid GUI "xfburn".
Of course it was mainly my fault I didn't check if it was written okay or not and just put that away then removed source files from hard disk. Im now wondering what's on that DVD disc, some space looks to be non-empty but mounted disc is empty. Quest for future. Luckily, the data wasn't that way important so that's why I didn't check it, in oppose to other discs I've written that day.

Are you tired of clicking the search box in Firefox to do searches or changing the search engine. Then surfraw is definitely for you. Get rid of the searchbox and use Surfraw.

Surfraw - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Surfraw (Shell Users' Revolutionary Front Against the WWW) is a free POSIX-compliant (ie. meant for Linux, FreeBSD etc.) command-line shell program for interfacing with a number of web-based search engines. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License and written

This is all I do to use Firefox rather than Iceweasel.
1) download Firefox
2) extract to my /home/Downloads
3) symlink plugins by doing:
ln -s /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins /home/craig/Downloads/firefox/plugins
4) open iceweasel with iceweasel -profilemanager and create a profile for Firefox
5) copy my iceweasel profile to the new firefox profile
6) create a text file called Firefox.desktop

my Firefox.desktop:
