green transparent band over video being played with latest mplayer binary

Posted 04-15-2011 at 10:40 AM by sumeet inani

I came across an avi file.
It played fine in ubuntu but green transparent band in middle of frame appeared in windows xp.
So I discovereed two solutions
Code:
(1) In VLC media player select video>deinterlace>'discard or mean' whichever works.

I can't believe there is no alternative of y,g key in vlc .
It can shift all subtitles by specified seconds or change frame rate .
What if srt is badly coded causing subtitles to appear early & sometimes late ?

Code:
(2)
I like mplayer.
mplayer -vf scale=<width>:<height>:1 #which means turn on interlaced scaling
