Where is the horizon of your imagination?

Posted 07-06-2009 at 12:36 AM by Shingoshi

Do you dream at arms length?
Do you dream only as far as you can throw?
Or do your dreams extend beyond the realm of boundaries?

Given that likely all of us here are deeply involved to some extent in the development of technology, to what extent do you advance with the technology around you? Are you simply maintaining a state of parity, just trying to keep up with what's in front of you? How many would think of you as a visionary? How many times have you predicted something in your imagination, only to question later, "why did this take so long to be?

Granted, I'm a dreamer. And I tend to dream very large. Some of the things I dream of may not occur until after my lifetime. But I still invest myself in dreaming of those things that I believe should be possible. So I'm always asking questions of what if to others who are willing to listen. I think that's essential for knowledge to keep advancing. I keep asking myself, "what other part of my world do I still think is flat? And here's a funny thing to think of. People who live on flat planets, have no horizons. So for them, none of this would apply. A world without horizons is a world without enthusiasm. What you're left with is contentment with everything that is, without any desire to seek more. I call this the tyranny of complacency. Because it is impossible for tyranny to exist without a condition of enforced complacency.

So, do you think to be free?
