An era drawing to a close.

Well, today is seeing the system I cut my IT industry teeth on the best part of 2 decades ago finally fading away. My first IT job was looking after Stratus midrange systems in a financial company. The hardware got upgraded over the years to what ended up as a top of the range Stratus Continuum setup. I just started the end of day processing on it and the application guys have obviously cut great chunks out of the batch as it all but finished in a few minutes where it used to take all night. It's like seeing a favourite pair of shoes that are really comfortable getting a hole in them. You know they're gonna end up in the bin really soon.
