Well, glxgears is the only benchmark I used, but the improvements were devastatingly positive!

After reading an up date on the Wine project, I realized the method in which Microsoft will be marginalized. Since Microsoft owns the computing market, developers write code for Windows, hence the lack of Linux software versions. It's a self-feeding system. However, the development of Wine has allowed Linux to be an either/or OS. Not only that, but many windows programs work better under Wine than the real thing. disable auto login on the aspire one

How to disable auto-login:

WARNING: take extreme caution doing this or you will have a non-functioning netbook when rebooted. Be sure to read all instructions completely before making any changes and double check your work . You will need to remember the password you used when first turning on the Aspire One- good luck!

Edit the file /etc/rc.d/rc.S

Find and comment out the line

/usr/bin/xinit -- -br>/dev/null 2>&1 &

kde on the aspire one

hi all,
this is how to install kde on the aspire one
first quit kpowersave then uninstall it and uninstall kolourpaint
then its as simple as clicking kde in the package manager and installing it!!!
disable auto login is next for making this tutorial work
still trying gnome...

problems with installing some scientific packages on linux

hi every one and tnx for your really useful helps
i have a problem with a scientific package , it plots some structures that it read from a "(file).dat" file ,and it has some examples in itself to become familier with it. when i want to change the parameters i just got the message : " key is off " and i got axactly the same plot that is in it and nothing changes , i think that it should be some thing very simple but i do not know how to solve it to get diffreent plots...
