Posted 03-07-2010 at 07:24 AM by dsmyth

Sonic the Hedgehog on Linux... fandabbydosy!!

1. Download the source code for the Gens/GS emulator
(release 7 at time of writing)

http://info.sonicretro.org/Gens/GS#Stable_Release

2. Unzip the package and then do the "./configure && make && sudo make install" shuffle.

If the configuration step fails you might need to resolve some dependencies. There was one dependency missing on this machine; yum'd it...

Hi and thanks for reading my blog. Lets have an proper introduction.

I have been a Window user for over 10 years and got fed up having to constantly upgrade hardware and software to get the ALL SINGING ALL DANCING same old shite as before.

So around Christmas time 2010 I dual booted Vista and Fedora on a crappy laptop (with good RAM, everything else is crap). Eventually as replacement tools were found for Fedora it became apparent that Vista could go; it had to go,...

Well, I have not really ever had a blog, but I suppose I will make my first attempt at one here on LQ. I'm not going to do too much writing myself, but rather post a few of my favourite quotes that for one reason or another really mean something to me.

They risk their own health and by 'passive smoking' (i.e. the unfiltered garbage they spew out.) the health of others. So, to continue with that analogy, any tax should be on the sale of Microsoft products which should also come with a 'health' warning. That way, the majority of the people causing the problem bear the brunt of...

Security. (Again!)

Posted 03-02-2010 at 02:55 PM by rich_c

I was browsing the BBC news site and found this story. Rather predictably, there's no mention of the system that presents the bad guys with the most vulnerabilities to exploit... (You know the one, from Redmond.) Also, googling the RSA Conference site results in jut 3 hits for 'Linux'. Interesting, as a lot of important organisations think Linux is pretty secure. (I'm thinking NSA/SELinux here...)

Another interesting and far less biased development I saw recently was this. Seems...
