NEWS 201021 ABOUT ExTiX Deepin
I’ve released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (201021). This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 20 released by Deepin Technology 200911.

NEW FUNCTIONS etc
1. You can run ExTiX from RAM. Use boot alternative 2 (load to RAM) or Advanced. A wonderful way to run Linux if you have enough RAM. Everything will be super fast. When ExTiX has booted up you can remove the DVD or USB stick.

This build (RaspAnd 11 201020) works very well on the new Raspberry Pi 4. I used the latest model with 8GB RAM, but you can of course use the other models too.

QDirstat can have Dolphin as file manager, but not with the "&" after the command line

QDirstat's "open file manager here" fails from the user perspective if you just replace "pcmanfm-qt" to "dolphin" in the command line, even though it says it was "successful." The default line for that setting on the settings GUI has an "&" in the end, and for some reason, it makes Dolphin automatically exit under that circumstance, for some reason, I assume. While it does work on a terminal, on QDirstat it doesn't.

NEWS 201018 about DebEX Gnome – a Refracta UEFI Build
I have made a new extra version of DebEX, which I call DebEX Gnome Live DVD. It’s a pure Debian system using the testing (bullseye) and unstable (sid) repositories. Gnome 3.38 (latest) is used as Desktop environment. I have removed the Mate Desktop, since Gnome now can be used on all kind of computers. Also when running DebEX in VirtualBox and VMware. No need for Nvidia’s proprietary graphics drivers when running this new version...

Syntax is important!

This is a story that should help us all see how important syntax is in linux commands. I had recently installed PCLinuxOS2020, and I wanted to set up some aliases in this new install. It had been awhile since I had last done this, so I did a search to get info on how to make these aliases permanent. Not hard to find and got the info I needed to do that.
Per instructions, I created a .bash_aliases file wherein I put my aliases.
