Changes Again

Posted 03-11-2009 at 05:55 AM by brianL

Yes, Slackware is back on my desktop (the old one, haven't got the new one yet (but I will (and try Arch, LFS, and Gentoo on it))). Mmm, that looks like Lisp.
Giving up Slackware, even on one machine out of two, proved to be as difficult as giving up smoking. I'll repeat what I've said before. For me, Slackware is more interesting than any other distro I've tried. It gives me more incentive for learning and experimenting.

Even if they are masked (either by keyword or hard masked).

Recently, the Gentoo dev team decided that KDE-4.2 needs a newer version of Xorg in order to function (it's been working pretty well with the version of Xorg I have been using). Wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't need to unmask all packages related to the new version.

Tcpdump wasn't installed! This is the second time I've seen a default install not include such a critical piece of software. I installed Suse about a year ago and noticed the same thing.

I ended up going to my router and jacking the Dell into...
