The end of Windows as we know it. Maybe the end of Linux too! It's vey early days yet, but Microsofts latest project "Midori" will change computing from what we are used to. Their idea is to make an operating system thats not tied into hardware on our machines, but have it installed on servers instead! They reckon they won't be able to cope with technology and also dependencies, so this is the best way to go. People are surfing while out and about now on their mobiles etc.Like I said it's...

Beats a cubicle but for the wage

I get up in the morning and make my bed
put a bed spread on top of my bed under which I have placed a hard board to sit on.
I'm thinking this is actually easier on my tush than the soft bed over the long haul of winter
in which I spend a good part of the time sitting actually in various positions but often cross legged
infront of the dellXP. The dellxp sits on a bed/lap stand: two wooden boards of somewhat larger area
than the laptop seperated by two 2by8's set...

Careful with tor and Konqueror

After playing with tor + privoxy + tork with Konqueror, y finally decided to remove all three privacy programs and go back to regular use of Konqueror.

Prior to uninstall tork, I reconfigured Konqueror for use without tor.

However, after removing the programs I found that accessing some SSL sites was not possible. Finding information about that was not easy this time.

The browsing settings on Kcontrol had cookies, cache and java disabled. The privacy...

Couldn't log in to my isp home page

A while back, when trying to log in to my isp home page to look at my email (I try not to download it unless it's important .... which I'm not! so there you go!), I couldn't get in! It let me enter my password etc, then directed me to another page which informed me that my browser was not supported and I needed Internet Explorer, or Firefox! Well, I was using Firefox so what did they mean? I noticed they never mentioned Opera?

I asked my wife, who uses Firefox with that other operating...
