Transparent dynamic reverse proxy with nginx

A while back I wrote about using Apache as a dynamic reverse proxy. Anyone who has done even minimal research into web servers knows that Apache is the swiss army knife. It trys to be everything for everyone, and like a swiss army knife may not be as good as a more refined too at least as far as efficiency is concerned. (Read More)

compile a kernel for aspire one

hi all,
if any of you want to compile a new kernel for the aspire one
say on openSUSE 11.0 (it doesnt have support for the wifi card) heres how
1)connect a external moniter to the aao cos make menuconfig complains otherwise
2)Get a kernel from either or linux format ddvd these have the latest every month
3) go into terminal and do either su or sudo bash to become root
4) type cd /usr/src
5) type tar xjf then the path to your downloaded...

As a rebuttal to the misdirected thinking of Vulcan ideology, I give the following statement:
Emotion has Reason to Exist.

It's not an exclusive or. And especially not one better than the other. Emotion exists in response to environmental factors experienced by each individual. To dismiss emotion in it's entirety, is to dismiss the experience which produced it. Thus, an emphasis on reason to the vacancy of emotion is fallacy.

Google's new operatng system...

This week, Google announced its plans for a Google OS to be used on netbooks called (not surprisingly) Chrome, and running (especially not surprisingly) on Linux.

Most of the press about the Chrome OS has been negative, with most of the analysis saying that people will reject a Google Linux-based netbook -- as they've rejected previous Linux-based netbooks -- because it won't run the applications that people want (Word, Excel, etc.) and probably won't come with the patent-encumbered...

Linux and me

This is the (probably boring) history if my love affair with Linux:

I do not recall the date I first began using Linux. I do remember that my first install was using UMSDOS filesystem on a DOS/Windows3 box . . . back when Slackware still used "disk sets." My best guess is 3rd or 4th quarter of 1994.

I chose Slackware way back then, because the speed of the ftp site on which it was hosted.

Once I got a taste of Linux, I was in love! I switched...
