Rootkit Hunter 1.3.5-dev progress

Take a peak at RKH's SF CVS stats and you will see that activity picked up again. Currently the RKH 1.3.5(-dev) Changelog (rev1.119) lists 16 bugfixes, 13 new items, 14 changes and counting.

It was a bit sad to notice some of the existing signatures were incomplete though. And while everyone knows breaches of security "the old school rootkit way" have dropped to nil, RKH aims to be complete. So I'll be replaying rootkit installs again and working on improving rootkit checks...

compiling with pro*c in linux

That explains why you had a problem with bool which is built into C++ but can't be used in C without having a typedef for it. It also explains why you have a failure with extern "C" which is valid C++ code but meaningless in C.

That CODE=CPP thing sounds like it is intended to deal with that (tell the compiler to ignore the .c extension and process C++ code).

Slackware is a great Linux distribution. It is fast, stable, and easily maintained. It is also easy to customize to users' tastes, which is a good thing because a certain amount of customization is necessary for a fully useful installation.

That's not because Slackware is somehow "incomplete," its maintainers simply refuse to monkey (much) with the upstream products that go into the distribution. So, for example, there's a bug in the coreutils utility that results in the...
