A feature i would like to add to head and tail

Posted 03-10-2021 at 08:39 PM by Skaperen

i would like to add a -m option to both the head and tail commands. it would be a regex match where head will output until it has a line that matches and tail will output from after the last line that matches, to the EOF. an option -M can be an inclusive variant that also outputs the matched line in the proper order. another option might be picked to do non-regex matching.

Second auto-hiding tint2 panel equivalent to Openbox' client-list combined menu, on the top-center of the screen

The client-list combined menu shows a list of windows from all desktops, with the window titles. It's good for moving fast to a given window when you have lots of them spread around, maximized and minimized. But it does not allow you to move windows between desktops, and requires a click in order to be activated.

Tint2 taskbar is able to do both things, and does not need clicking to be brought, with the auto-hide functionality set. But the standard inconvenience is that it's a horizontal...

RaspAnd 11 (Android 11) for Raspberry Pi 4 with Netflix, Spotify, Bluetooth, Firefox and F-Droid working very well :: Build 210309

Posted 03-09-2021 at 10:19 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

ABOUT RaspAnd 11 – Build 210309
RaspAnd 11 runs very well on a Raspberry Pi 4. I.e. the system is pretty responsive if you use a micro SD card of good quality. RaspAnd 11 has the following apps pre-installed: Netflix, Spotify, SVTPlay, Termux, Firefox, F-Droid, and Aida64. Unfortunately not Google Play Store, but F-Droid works as good replacement for it. You can also download APK files (Android packages) and install them. Normally without problems.

ABOUT Android 11, which was released 200908…...

A feature i have never liked

Posted 03-09-2021 at 06:07 AM by Skaperen

there is a feature in Linux i have never liked. it's in other Unix/POSIX system's, too, so it's not Linux specific. as far as i recall, it predated Linux. the feature in the "mv" command. if you name a directory as the target of a move, it puts the file (or whatever is being moved) inside that directory. if the target is not a directory, obviously it can't, and that's not my issue with the "mv" command. if there is nothing at the target name, "mv" just move the...

tint2conf -- very nice configuration tool for tint2, comes by default with Debian's tint2, I guess

I've been using tint2 for ages already, and I didn't know this config program existed. I've even had found something that looks like an older version of it before I found out I actually had it installed already.

https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages...nt2conf.1.html

I'm not that much into it for the merely aesthetical aspect of the configuration, but because it allows you (indirectly) to create something like a secondary tint2 bar that's quite different from...
