Traffic and Process Id correlation with audit and ULOG on IA-32 Centos-5.7

mixing stable and testing packages

Sometimes when sticking with a Debian stable version, it can be useful to just update one or two packages to a testing or even unstable version, because of new features.

The ideal way to do this is to use backports, because these have been tested (and patched if necessary) to work with the stable versions of other packages. The backports repository is added to /etc/apt/sources.list:

One of the reasons I like to do page scraping is to get the data I need without having to take time to use a web browser such as Firefox and or a newsreader to get the specific data I need. Letting the computer get the data for me and making a summary file of the data I need is therefore letting the computer be my secretary and or research assistant.

Have been doing some page scraping, but i was not able to get the weather from their (Google) site. Then read they have it sort of hidden....

Debian Wheezy has just switched to Gnome 3

Wow - I ran Update on synaptic and apt-listbugs tells me that metacity segfaults after restart. I decide to risk it, as it won't stop me booting. The update finishes & I closed it & did Ctrl-Alt-BkSp to restart all the GUI stuff, X, Gnome, etc.
GDM looked slightly different, I logged in & Bam! Big surprise - no desktop. Gnome 3 had arrived.
I love it. There's a learning curve, & probably I need to do some manual cleanup after apt has "converted" my Gnome 2...
