manually setting up a VPN tunnel (PPTP)

Posted 05-11-2011 at 11:30 PM by neonsignal

Creating a VPN tunnel involves setting up a few configuration files.

First add a line to /etc/ppp/chap-secrets. This has four columns:
{username} PPTP {password} *
Then create a PPTP connection file /etc/ppp/peers/{tunnel} (any tunnel name will do):
pty "pptp {server} --nolaunchpppd"
name {username}
remotename PPTP
file /etc/ppp/options.pptp
ipparam {tunnel}

Posted 05-11-2011 at 06:56 PM by megasaputra

When I tried to install Ubuntu 11.04, my computer froze. Before, I installed Ubuntu, I deleted linux partition, cause my computer freeze in the first time I turn on my computer. So, I put Opensuse DVD to install in my computer. After that, my computer can operate as usual. But, I still can't install Ubuntu. May be, the cd was broken. I will try to install in hard disk.
