Lubuntu - SSH & VNC

Spending so much time away from home (booo) means I have to get smarter and remoting into things with SSH & VNC, rather than rip off others work I will just post a link to a rather comprehensive information source:

Incremental backup using diff for BIG projects

Note: This blog entry will to go away soon. Another version is in the works.

Note also that having the entire files rather than just a code snippet like a patch makes it easy see as much context as you need in order to recreate a change log by looking at ONLY the files that were changed from one build to another.

KDE's 'kompare' is an excellent utility for viewing changes.

So for now, since this is a little buggy (not serious but needs tweeking), consider...

Now let us add some clients to monitor by Nagios server.
Add the EPEL repository to install “nagios-plugins” and “nrpe” packages in client systems.

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an “Internet-standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks”. SNMPv3 moves away from the community string idea from older version, and into a username & password combo. The installation and setup is actually pretty straight forward. Here’s what you need to do:

##yum install net-snmp-utils net-snmp-devel

Overview of Software Projects

Writing software is one of my favorite pastimes. I derive great satisfaction from designing and implementing tools, giving people new and needed capabilities.

Unfortunately I have more projects underway than time and energy to give them all the attention I'd like. I struggle to apply discipline to finish some projects before starting others, with mixed success. Some of my tools are useful now, while others are works in various states of progress (or neglect).
