Posted 06-11-2013 at 12:30 AM by rainbowsally

Today's Feature
  • Here's another pixel (color) mixing toy. The best yet.

Back a couple of blog pages
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...lamping-35557/
we were playing with color mixing and data clamping and all kinds of junk including comparing routines to mix colors by a floating point ratio.

This is mixcolors.c - named the same as the other version we were playing with and...

HOWTO: Set up Modsecurity on Debian 7

Posted 06-10-2013 at 07:30 PM by Rearden888
Updated 06-10-2013 at 07:43 PM by Rearden888 (typos)

There are many places online that explain how to install and perform initial set up for modsecurity on Apache. However, I haven't found anywhere that shows how to do it with the standard Debian packages and that respects the normal apt update process. The caveat here is that like a lot of standard Debian packages, the packages included in wheezy lag upstream by a few versions. This is obviously something to consider, especially when dealing with security related software. If you're like me,...

uitool stand-alone version (2013-06-10).

Another Dopey Calculator

Today's feature
  • Another dopey calculator

First a bit of news re. the lq libs and mc2. (mc2 is the makefile creator developed here at this blog.)

The latest version of mc2 is undergoing testing and with any luck will include a SNAZZY set of graphics routines. The uitool is very nice for quickly writing moc files ui headers, etc. Currently some of the built-ins are a bit clunky, but they are effective and easy to use, such as the...

Oddmuse Musings

Posted 06-09-2013 at 04:17 PM by ttk (Unpopular Positions: One Geek's Take)
Updated 06-09-2013 at 04:36 PM by ttk

After a brief battle with OddMuse spambots, I found 33 regular expressions which seem to block spamming attempts .. for now. I'm glad OddMuse makes it so easy to revert updates and block spam via regular expressions.

Blocking the IP addresses of the spambots can't hurt either. I've got a little over a hundred blocked now (via "reject" rules in routing table).

This weekend I changed some things that bugged me: Instead of putting the name of the page in a...
