The danger of '.desktop' files!

Posted 01-31-2017 at 01:36 PM by GazL (GazL's Gazette)

There was an interesting post on r/linux today outlining some of the insanity relating to the use of .desktop files on linux desktops. The information is nothing new -- it's been like this for years and is also why you'll pry my window-manager+xterm working environment from my cold dead hands -- but it's one of the clearest examples of the dangers I've seen on the subject.

Could use Blue tooth among other things, but I wanted something more secure and easier to generally implement. PiFM seemed to be an answer . With a RPi you can send an old fashion radio signal to a radio and the radio will play what is sent it. All you need is an up to date Raspian install on a Raspberry Pi with internet access. I used...
