VPN on Mac

Posted 02-11-2006 at 09:40 PM by carboncopy

VPN on Mac works now.

The VPN server is M$ PPTP server. Which requires the setting of encryption to 128 bit only. Other settings won't work.

Mac OS X routing table is an issue after connection to VPN. To do a quick and dirty trick. Get digitunnel, install it and connect using digitunnel. After that remove digitunnel and your routing table will automagically change whenever you connect or disconnect your VPN connection in Mac.

Am I the only one who finds this mildly humorous? I doubt it, to be honest, I have used various distributions of Linux on and off for the past several years, but where I earn my paycheck's is in teaching Windows.

A couple of years ago I got hired by a college, to teach Windows classes which was fine, I taught the students the in's and out's of Windows, and since I had been doing this for the past 8 years, I could about teach those classes in my sleep, and between you and me, I can't...

Life with GNU/Linux/Slackware

Posted 02-08-2006 at 09:08 AM by cwwilson721

Hey, all. Just started the blogging thing here.
My life with linux has been,um, interesting. 99% of the questions I've asked in the Slackware forum get answered by knowledgeable people that also ask the correct questions.

The other forums? Forget about it! Either they answer the wrong question, or don't even bother reading the entire post. (Ex: Asked about setting up a DHCP server, and was told I have to setup NAT, which in the original post was already stated as being setup)...

Ubuntu The Easy Way

Posted 02-06-2006 at 09:04 AM by leeh

I write this in the hope that it will save people a lot of time and effort when setting up Ubuntu for the first time.

I have set up two computers for the kids, both using Linux and after much experimentation I settled on Ubuntu for the following reasons: Easy to set up, easy to use, it just works!

Well I say it just works, but there's a slight hitch! No restricted formats are included due to the Debian Open Source policy. Now for a newbie such as myself this has caused...
