suse 10.0

Well after messing up my Winblows partition for the upteenth time i decided to dual boot once again but i wanted to move to suse 10.0 so i downloaded the dvd and installed it after win xp
still cannot get ati to work and cannot play dvds .. but after the wife wanted me upstairs i didnt have time to hit lq for the answers yet.

Today URPMI S$%# itself and Fedora X86_64 DVD just happened to around. Good Idea??

The lesson i learned today is dont delete the entire /var cache directory
apparently it causes problems

To fix it i was going to quickly use mandriva repair/update

but Fedora was sitting there staring at me.

Am i happy?
not so far
Fedora core 4
1. come with KDE 3.4.0 (bit outdated and .0 isnt ever a favoured version)
2. Install took a very long time 30mins (equililent install in Mandriva x86_64 is 15mins)...

need help cofiguring KDE 3.4 to auto start at boot time in slackware 10.2

hi i have been trying to configure KDE to auto start when i boot my slackware 10.2 comp
cos i am not yet totally comfatable working with the command line asll the time just yet
any help will be greatly apreciated

SUSE - the ideal laptop distro

SUSE Linux is probably the most ideal distro for a laptop. I recently acquired a HP nx6110 laptop and I installed SuSE without a problem. As I had mentioned in my <a href="">SuSE 10 review</a> at LQ recently SUSE is quite a polished professional distro.

I was impressed by the way SuSE autodetected most of the settings required for a laptop including power management as well as USB device...
